IDF Eliminates Hamas Khan Yunis Brigade Commander
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced on Tuesday the elimination of a senior Hamas commander in southern Gaza. The target, Na'il Abu Abed, served as the commander of Hamas's Rafah Brigade, succeeding Muhammad Shabana who was killed by the IDF in May 2025. The operation took place in the Saluki stream area of southern Lebanon.
Separately, on Thursday, the IDF and Shin Bet eliminated Muhammad Yazouri, who had been the commander of Hamas's Khan Yunis Brigade in Gaza. Yazouri had held several previous positions within the brigade, including deputy commander, commander of the combat support battalion, and head of the intelligence department. In his role, he was responsible for managing the brigade's operatives and directing terror activities against Israeli forces and civilians.
