IDF Confirms Elimination of Hamas Jabalia Battalion Commander
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officially confirmed the overnight elimination of Ahmed Batsch, identified as the commander of Hamas's Jabalia battalion in the northern Gaza Strip. The strike occurred between Monday and Tuesday in northern Gaza.
According to the IDF, Batsch was responsible for managing and organizing the weaponry for Hamas's northern Gaza brigade. He was also involved in coordinating and advancing the supply of weapons and military equipment to the organization's operatives. The IDF further alleged that Batsch had recently promoted terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and worked to restore the organization's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire.
An IDF spokesperson stated that Batsch was eliminated to remove the threat he posed. The military emphasized that measures were taken before and during the strike to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
Security forces remain deployed in the area according to agreement and will continue to operate to remove all threats, the IDF added.
