IDF Eliminates Key Hamas Commander in Northern Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced the elimination of Ahmed Batash, a senior Hamas commander in northern Gaza. Batash led the Jabalia battalion within Hamas's military wing and was responsible for managing weaponry in the northern Gaza Strip, including coordinating arms and equipment supplies to militants. The military stated that Batash was also involved in planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, rebuilding Hamas's operational capabilities, and systematically violating the ceasefire. His elimination was carried out due to the ongoing threat he posed.

During the operation, security forces reportedly took measures to minimize civilian risk, employing precision weaponry and aerial intelligence. The IDF stated that security forces remain in the area to counter emerging threats, in line with existing agreements.

This operation follows previous strikes. On Tuesday, the IDF eliminated two other Hamas operatives in Khan Younis and Gaza City who were reportedly working to restore the group's military strength after the war. The army indicated one of these individuals was involved in weapons manufacturing for Hamas's military wing.
