IDF Eliminates Hamas Battalion Commander in Northern Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced the elimination of Ahmad Batash, identified as the commander of Hamas's Jabalia battalion in the northern Gaza Strip. According to Israeli security forces, Batash was killed overnight in an airstrike.
Israeli authorities stated that Batash was involved in arming the brigade and was responsible for coordinating weapons and equipment supplies to Jabalia. The IDF and Shin Bet further reported that Batash had recently been engaged in planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, as well as working to restore Hamas's military capabilities, which they characterized as a severe breach of ceasefire terms.
Israeli military officials asserted that measures were taken to minimize civilian risk during the strike, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
