Privacy Policy

Last updated June 25, 2026

baba News is a reading site with no login and no reader accounts. We collect as little as possible, we do not sell anything about you, and this policy explains plainly what does and does not happen with information when you use the site. It applies to the baba News website.

1. Overview and scope

This Privacy Policy describes how baba News (“baba News,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the baba News website. baba News is an independent news aggregator with no login, no reader accounts, and no reader sign-up. We have deliberately built the site to need very little information from you. This policy explains the limited information that is collected when you visit, why, and the choices and rights you have. It does not apply to the third-party news sites we link to, each of which has its own privacy practices that we do not control.

2. What we collect

You can read baba News without creating an account, signing in, or giving us any personal details. We do not ask you for your name, email, or any other identifier in order to read. The limited information involved in operating the site is:

  • Basic, aggregate analytics. Like most websites, we use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which stories are read and roughly where traffic comes from, so we can improve the site. We use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for this. These tools collect usage data such as pages viewed, approximate (city/region-level) location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring source, and general interaction and performance metrics. We use this information in aggregate to measure and improve the Service; we are not trying to identify you personally.
  • Standard server logs. Our hosting and content-delivery providers automatically record the usual technical request data needed to serve pages and keep the site secure and reliable — for example IP address, user-agent string, requested URL, referrer, and timestamps. This is standard for any website and is used for delivery, security, abuse prevention, and diagnostics.
  • Local storage for your preferences. We store a small amount of data in your own browser’s local storage to remember reader preferences — such as your theme (light or dark) and similar display choices — so the site behaves the way you left it. This stays on your device.

3. What we do not collect or do

We have intentionally limited our data practices. To be explicit:

  • We do not run reader accounts and do not collect names, emails, passwords, or payment details in order to read.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We do not run third-party behavioral ad networks or ad-targeting trackers on the news site.
  • We do not knowingly collect special categories of sensitive personal data, and we do not ask you to provide them.
  • We do not use your information to build an advertising profile of you.

4. Cookies and local storage

baba News uses a minimal amount of browser storage. The local storage described above keeps your reading preferences on your device. The analytics tools we use (Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure usage and performance in aggregate. We do not use cookies or storage to build an advertising profile of you or to track you across unrelated sites for advertising.

You are in control of cookies and storage. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage through their settings, and you can use private/incognito browsing. Blocking some storage may affect minor conveniences such as remembering your theme but will not prevent you from reading. You can also opt out of Google Analytics across sites using Google’s browser add-on, and you can use browser-level signals such as Global Privacy Control, which we honor where applicable.

5. Why we process information and our legal bases

We process the limited information described above to operate, secure, and improve the Service: to deliver pages to you, to keep the site available and protected against abuse, to understand in aggregate how the site is used, and to comply with our legal obligations. Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar laws apply, our legal bases are our legitimate interests in running, securing, measuring, and improving a free, no-login reading service (balanced against your rights and freedoms), your consent where it is required for non-essential cookies or analytics, and compliance with legal obligations where applicable. Because the site requires no account, we hold no profile about you that would let us identify you from your visit alone.

6. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data, and we honor these rights to the extent they apply to the limited information involved here.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction (GDPR-style rights), you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; to request correction of inaccurate data; to request erasure of your data; to restrict or object to certain processing (including processing based on legitimate interests); to data portability; and, where processing is based on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting prior processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA),you may have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to access and delete that information, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still exercise your other rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

To make any request, email us at news@itsbaba.com. Because we do not maintain accounts or profiles tied to your identity, in many cases we will not hold information that can be linked back to you individually; where that is the case, we will explain that in our response. We may need to take reasonable steps to verify a request before acting on it, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

7. Data retention

We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security, diagnostics, and abuse prevention and are then deleted or aggregated in the ordinary course. Aggregate analytics are retained according to the retention settings and policies of the analytics providers we use. Preferences stored in your browser’s local storage remain until you clear them. We do not maintain long-term personal profiles of readers.

8. International data transfers

baba News is operated from Israel and uses service providers (including our hosting, content delivery, and analytics providers) that may store and process information on servers located in Israel, the United States, the European Union, and other countries. This means information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the one in which you live, whose data-protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision (including the adequacy status that applies to transfers from the EEA to Israel). By using the Service you understand that information may be processed in these locations.

9. Children’s privacy

baba News is a general-audience news site and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies under local law). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at news@itsbaba.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Third-party links and services

Every story on baba News links out to the original article at an external outlet, and we rely on a small number of third-party service providers (such as our hosting, content delivery, and analytics providers) to operate the site. Once you follow a link away from baba News, you are on that outlet’s site under its own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. Our sources page lists the outlets we link to. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a no-login reading site to protect the limited information involved against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, and we rely on reputable hosting and infrastructure providers with their own security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because we do not operate reader accounts or collect payment information, the personal information at issue here is minimal by design.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, the tools we use, or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date shown above, and material changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

13. Contact

For any privacy question or to exercise a privacy right, email us at news@itsbaba.com. You can find more ways to reach us on our contact page.
