Delete your account yourself

• On the website: sign in, open Account, Privacy, type DELETE and confirm.
• In the app: open Settings, then your account, and choose Delete News Account.

The deletion runs as soon as you confirm. You are signed out on every device.

What deletion removes

• Your saved stories, follows, settings, recent searches and synced reading history.
• Your sign-in sessions and the links between your account and your devices.
• Your name. Your email address is replaced with a placeholder.
• Every email we send you: the daily brief, the weekly email and breaking news email.
• For an organization you own: its API keys are revoked, its webhooks are disabled and their secrets erased, and its brief recipients are removed.
• A News Plus subscription bought on the website is cancelled at once.

What is kept, and why

• An empty account record and a log of account actions with their times (for example sign-in and deletion), so we can show that a deletion happened and so a deleted account cannot be quietly recreated.
• Payment and subscription records, for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Stripe, Apple and Google keep their own records of payments.
• Email delivery records (which kind of email was sent and when), to prove what was sent.
• The reading log, which holds no account ID, name or email address. It is pruned on the schedule in our Privacy Policy.
• The app’s alert record (installation ID, push token and alert choices) while the app stays installed with alerts on. Turn alerts off and uninstall the app, or write to us, to have it removed.

What deletion does not do

• It does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play as well.
• It does not delete your baba identity or your account with another baba product, such as the baba translator.
• It does not remove articles or stories, which are about the news and not about you.

Data on your device

Saved stories, follows, recent searches, reading history and your Ask Duki conversation are also kept on your device. In a browser, clear this site’s data in the browser settings. In the app, uninstalling it removes this data.

Ask us instead

If you cannot sign in, never had an account, or want data deleted that is not tied to an account (for example the app’s alert record or a message you sent us), write to privacy@itsbaba.com. Send it from the email address concerned, or tell us which address or app installation the request is about. We may ask for proof that the data is yours. We act within the time the law sets for your request and tell you when it is done. Our Privacy Policy lists your other rights.
