IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Battalion Commander in Northern Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced Monday night that they had targeted and eliminated Ahmed Batsch, the commander of Hamas's Jabalia battalion in the northern Gaza Strip. According to the IDF spokesperson, Batsch was involved in managing and organizing the military wing's weaponry for the northern Gaza Strip brigade. He also coordinated and advanced the supply of weapons and military equipment to Hamas operatives.
The IDF stated that Batsch had recently promoted terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and worked to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. The military asserted that the strike was carried out to neutralize the threat he posed.
Prior to and during the operation, the IDF claimed that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
