Netanyahu Accused of Ignoring Gaza Threat Warnings Before Oct. 7

A new report alleges that the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, personally warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about an impending significant operation by Yahya Sinwar approximately ten days before the October 7th Hamas attack. According to the report, bin Zayed spoke directly with Netanyahu, cautioning him about imminent bloodshed. However, the Prime Minister allegedly did not relay this specific warning to the heads of the security establishment.

Netanyahu has denied the report, calling it a lie. Despite his denial, opposition leaders have strongly criticized the Prime Minister. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett confirmed the report's veracity, adding that Egyptian intelligence had also issued a similar warning. Bennett accused Netanyahu of "criminal negligence," stating that had he received such a warning, he would have immediately traveled south, met with commanders, convened the Chief of Staff, and raised the alert level.

Leaders from the opposition party, National Unity, also voiced sharp criticism. Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent figure in the party and a former IDF Chief of Staff, joined the attack, asserting that Netanyahu received "dozens of warnings for October 7th and ignored them all." Eisenkot declared Netanyahu "unfit" and accused him of leading the nation into the disaster due to a flawed strategic concept. He pledged that a state commission of inquiry would be established promptly to investigate Netanyahu's knowledge and prevent future tragedies.

Another opposition voice from the National Unity party claimed Netanyahu "didn't sleep, he simply put us all to sleep" and accused him of sidelining security officials. They are demanding a comprehensive investigation into the alleged deliberate concealment of information.
