Ben Gurion Airport Parking Lots Reopen After Brief Closure

Parking facilities at Ben Gurion Airport have reopened to the public after spaces became available, the Airports Authority announced on Monday. The announcement follows an unusual notice issued Sunday that the parking lots had reached full capacity, prompting authorities to advise drivers to avoid coming to the airport by car.

"Due to the increase in passenger volume during the High Holidays, Ben Gurion Airport parking lots are currently at full capacity and have no available parking spaces until further notice," the authority stated. Earlier this month, it was reported that approximately 100,000 passengers were expected to pass through the airport on a single day, marking it as the busiest day of the year at Israel's main airport.

The Airports Authority confirmed it had increased staffing to manage the congestion, which included around 600 departing and arriving flights on that peak day. Throughout September, a month typically seeing peak airport traffic partly due to the High Holidays, an estimated 2.5 million passengers are expected to transit through Ben Gurion Airport.
