Israeli Man Killed in West Bank Shooting, Gunman Captured

Natanel Shicron, a resident of the settlement of Ali Zahav and father of six, was killed in a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region on Sunday. Shicron had gone to the Ein Ra'aya spring with his eldest son to immerse himself before Yom Kippur when the attacker opened fire. He was critically wounded and evacuated to Beilinson Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His wife, Dr. Meirav Shicron, is a lecturer at Ariel University.

Hours after the attack, elite Duvdevan unit soldiers apprehended the gunman in a hospital in Ramallah. The attacker had been wounded by return fire from a nearby IDF tracker shortly after the shooting but managed to escape. A manhunt, coordinated by the Shin Bet and involving the IDF, police, and intelligence forces, revealed the gunman had sought treatment in Ramallah.

The IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, visited the scene and ordered a lockdown of the surrounding village, a continued manhunt for accomplices, and the sealing and demolition of the attacker's home. "Our mission is not over," Zamir stated, vowing to reach anyone who aided the terrorist. He emphasized the military's heightened readiness during the Yom Kippur holiday.

Regional Council head Yossi Dagan eulogized Shicron as a "man of kindness, humble, and a loving person, a devoted family man." Dagan urged the security establishment to shift from defense to offense, calling for widespread operations and the restoration of security checkpoints. The Ali Zahav community also mourned Shicron, describing him as "loving, humble, modest, and beloved."

Shicron's funeral was scheduled to take place late Sunday night in Ali Zahav, following the conclusion of Yom Kippur.
