Man Dies From Gunshot Wounds After West Bank Attack; Manhunt Underway

A Jewish man in his 30s, who was critically injured in a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region on Sunday, has died from his wounds at Beilinson Hospital. Another person suffered from anxiety at the scene. Initial investigations indicate the attacker arrived by car at the Ein Ri'a spring area, also known as Ein Bena, and opened fire on several vehicles. The spring was established in memory of Colonel Yitzhak Ben Basat, a Neve Tzuf resident killed in battle. After the shooting, the assailant exited his vehicle armed and fled the scene on foot.

Emergency medical services received the report at 11:29 AM. Responders found the victim inside a vehicle, unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. After initial treatment at the scene, he was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition, with life-saving efforts and blood transfusions administered. Doctors later pronounced him dead. Paramedics described the intense efforts to save his life during the evacuation.

Security forces, including the Benjamin Brigade, the Duvdevan Unit, and reinforcement companies, along with police from the Judea and Samaria district, are continuing their manhunt for the attacker. Roadblocks have been set up throughout the area, and forces are conducting ground and aerial searches using drones, a police helicopter, and Air Force assets. Forensic teams are collecting evidence at the scene. District and regional police commanders held a situation assessment at the site.

In response to the attack, roads between Ofarim and Halmish, and between Halmish and Bir Zeit, were closed in both directions. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and follow security force instructions. Following the incident, the IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, held a situation assessment and ordered reinforcements for the ongoing manhunt.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that security forces are pursuing the "despicable terrorist" and vowed that no terrorist, nor their accomplices, would be safe. He added that Israeli forces simultaneously eliminated another terrorist attempting an attack in Samaria. Netanyahu instructed the IDF and Shin Bet to increase operations, impose closures, and conduct offensive actions and arrests in Judea and Samaria to ensure Israeli citizens' safety. He also ordered the immediate demolition of the attacker's home and extended condolences to the victim's family.
