Israeli Father Killed in Terror Attack, Son Saved by Guard's Fire

A Hamas terrorist, Qadri Samara, 37, murdered Natanel Shkaron, a father of six, near the Ein Ri'a spring (Ein Bneve) in the Benjamin region on the eve of Yom Kippur. Samara had scouted the location a day prior, exploiting the tradition of people visiting the spring for ritual immersion before the holiday. Shkaron was with his 16-year-old son, who was unharmed. A Border Guard patrol, alerted to the attack, engaged the terrorist, wounding him and preventing further harm to Shkaron's son. The terrorist fled the scene and was later apprehended by Duvdevan special forces in a Ramallah clinic, where he was found in bed. Following the attack, IDF forces raided the terrorist's hometown of Biddu, northwest of Jerusalem, reportedly surrounding a mosque and detaining approximately 50 individuals in a house. Shkaron, an IT systems analyst, is survived by his wife, Merav, and six children. The community of Ali Zahav, where the Shkaron family resides, eulogized him as a kind, humble, and devoted family man. Shomron Regional Council head Yossi Dagan stated that Shkaron was murdered after finishing his immersion with his son, emphasizing the community's support for the family.
