Gunman Kills Israeli Man Near West Bank Settlement, Captured After Manhunt
A man in his 30s was killed in a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region on Wednesday, shortly before the eve of Yom Kippur. Security forces launched an extensive manhunt for the assailant, who fled the scene on foot after firing from a passing vehicle at a spring near the settlement. The victim was initially reported in serious condition and evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Israeli military, alongside special forces from the Duvdevan unit, additional reinforcement companies, and Israeli police, participated in the pursuit. Drones and aerial assets from the Air Force were deployed, and roadblocks were established in the area, including on Route 465 between Bir Zeit and the bypass road.
Police stated that forces from the Judea and Samaria district were at the scene and involved in the chase. The commander of the Judea and Samaria district, Superintendent Moshe Finchi, and the commander of the Samaria region, Superintendent Avi Cohen, were en route to the scene. The manhunt concluded with the capture of the armed suspect.
