Israeli Man Killed in West Bank Shooting Attack, Gunman Apprehended

A man in his 40s was killed Sunday afternoon in a shooting attack near the Ein Riyya spring, adjacent to the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Ramallah area of the West Bank. His son, who was with him in the car, escaped unharmed. The victim sustained critical injuries and was found unconscious in his vehicle by paramedics. He was transported to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he was pronounced dead.

Initial investigations indicate the attacker, a 37-year-old resident of the village of Biddu, arrived at the spring in a vehicle and opened fire on the victim's car. A soldier present at the scene, in an armored vehicle, returned fire, wounding the assailant. The gunman then fled on foot towards Ramallah with his weapon.

Israeli security forces launched an extensive manhunt involving special units, including the Duvdevan Unit, and air support, including a combat helicopter. Checkpoints were established throughout the area. Approximately three hours after the attack, Duvdevan operatives apprehended the suspect in a Ramallah hospital, where he had sought treatment for his gunshot wounds. Surveillance footage identified a red Mitsubishi Outlander as the vehicle used by the attacker.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited the attack site and ordered reinforcements for the area and continued pursuit operations. Commander of the West Bank Division of the Police, Moshe Bentsi, and Commander of the Samaria region, Avi Cohen, also arrived at the scene.

Separately, in the northern West Bank near the settlement of Ganim, Israeli forces shot and killed an individual who attempted to carry out a vehicle ramming attack. Another person inside the car was arrested. No soldiers were injured in this incident.
