דובר צה"ל הודיע כי כוחותיו חיסלו שני מחבלים, אשר השתתפו בפשיטה על ישראל ב-7 באוקטובר, וכן מפקד בכיר של יחידת הנוח'בה של חמאס. פרטים נוספים על זהות המחבלים או המפקד שחוסלו, או על הנסיבות המדויקות של החיסול, לא פורסמו בשלב זה. יחידת הנוח'בה נחשבת ליחידה מובחרת בחמאס, והיא זו שהובילה את הפשיטה הראשונית לישראל ב-7 באוקטובר.
