IDF Eliminates Hamas Commanders Behind October 7 Attacks in Gaza Strip

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet announced the elimination of senior Hamas military figures in the Gaza Strip linked to the October 7 terrorist attacks. Last week, the IDF killed Abd al-Rahman Maher Abd al-Karim Ziyada, commander of the Nukhba terror cell, during a precise strike near Shati on Wednesday. Ziyada had infiltrated Israeli territory on October 7, stolen an IDF vehicle, and transferred it back into Gaza. On the same day, another strike near Khan Yunis killed Kamal Muhammad Hamdan Nagar, head of Hamas’s tunnel unit in that area. Both militants posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces and actively planned terror operations against IDF troops throughout the conflict.

Additionally, on Thursday, the IDF and Shin Bet eliminated Walid al-Haniya, deputy commander of the Nukhba unit. Al-Haniya had recently attempted to recruit new terrorists and led ideological training for his unit. He personally participated in the October 7 raid into Israel and was involved in directing a terror cell that kidnapped Israeli civilians into Gaza. Walid al-Haniya is the nephew of Ismail Haniya, former head of Hamas’s political bureau. These targeted killings aim to disrupt Hamas’s operational capabilities amid ongoing hostilities.
