Right-wing MK Limor Son Har-Melech welcomed the decision, accusing Blot of failing in his role by turning settlers into enemies and neglecting the fight against Arab terrorism. She also charged him with overstepping his authority and undermining government policy, emphasizing that military commanders must implement, not set, policy.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett condemned the government for acting against its soldiers, accusing it of dismantling the Israel Defense Forces from within and promising a future leadership change. Yisrael Beiteinu leader Gadi Eizenkot called the move unprecedented and illegal, warning against politicizing the military. The Defense Ministry clarified that the decision followed Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi's recommendation in April to appoint Major General Dado Bar-Kalifa as Blot's successor. Katz interviewed Bar-Kalifa in June, deemed him the best candidate, and decided to announce the appointment ahead of the next military rotation. The ministry emphasized Katz's policy to promote commanders with proven offensive records and successes in the ongoing conflict.
