Defense Minister Katz Appoints Aluf Dado Bar-Kalifa as Central Command Chief
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has decided to appoint Aluf Dado Bar-Kalifa as the new commander of the Central Command, following the recommendation of Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. The Chief of Staff had proposed Bar-Kalifa for the position at the end of April. Katz personally interviewed Bar-Kalifa in June and was impressed by him. The appointment is expected to take place during the upcoming round of military appointments. According to the Defense Minister's office, the policy is to promote commanders with a proven record of offensive operations and battlefield successes.
