MK Limor Son Har-Melech Praises Defense Minister for Removing Central Command Chief

MK Limor Son Har-Melech of Otzma Yehudit welcomed Defense Minister Israel Katz's decision to dismiss Central Command Chief Avi Blot. She criticized Blot for failing in his role by focusing on settlers from the hilltop and pioneering communities as adversaries rather than concentrating efforts on combating terrorism. According to Son Har-Melech, under Blot's command, settlers were repeatedly persecuted while Arab terrorism escalated. She also accused Blot of repeatedly acting independently and pursuing policies contrary to those set by the elected political leadership. Emphasizing democratic principles, she stated that a military commander must implement government policy rather than create it, and anyone wishing to set Israel's security policy should leave the military and run for the Knesset. As long as he serves in the IDF, a commander must adhere to government directives, not personal views.
