IDF Eliminates Senior Hamas Commander in Gaza Operation
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced on the evening of September 15 that they had eliminated a senior Hamas operative in the southern Gaza Strip. Preliminary reports indicate the target of the operation was Na'al Abu-Abid, identified as the commander of Hamas's Rafah Brigade. Palestinian sources reported that an Israeli airstrike on a target in the Khan Yunis area resulted in two fatalities and 14 injuries.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a joint statement asserting that "no terrorist can feel safe, and Hamas will not exist in the Gaza Strip." A security source confirmed to N12 News that Na'al Abu-Abid was indeed the intended target and is believed to have been killed in the operation.
