IDF and Shin Bet Confirm Elimination of Hamas Commander in Rafah
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency confirmed the elimination of the Hamas commander of the Rafah Brigade, Nael Abu Abed. The agencies stated that Abu Abed also served as the head of the terrorist organization's operations division.
According to the announcement, Abu Abed was appointed to his position after the elimination of Mohammed Shabanah. Prior to that, he held several roles, including deputy commander of the Rafah Brigade and commander of the Tal al-Sultan and Yibna battalions. In his capacity as commander, he was responsible for managing the brigade's operatives and directing them in the planning and execution of terror attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians.
The IDF and Shin Bet also noted that Abu Abed worked to rebuild the strength of the Rafah Brigade, which sustained severe damage throughout the war.
