IDF and Shin Bet Confirm Killing of Hamas Rafah Brigade Commander
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency have confirmed the elimination of Na'el Abu Abed, identified as the commander of Hamas's Rafah Brigade and the head of the operational department of the group's military wing. Abu Abed was killed in an airstrike.
According to Israeli intelligence, Abu Abed assumed command of the brigade following the elimination of Muhammad Shabana. Prior to that, he served as the deputy commander of the Rafah Brigade and led the Tel Sultan and Jabna battalions.
A joint statement from the IDF and Shin Bet indicated that Abu Abed directed the brigade's militants and was involved in planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. The statement also noted his efforts to restore the brigade's combat capabilities, which had been significantly impacted during the ongoing war.
