IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas's Rafah Brigade Commander
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced Tuesday evening the successful elimination of Na'el Abu Abed, the commander of Hamas's Rafah Brigade and head of the terror group's operations array. The strike took place in the southern Gaza Strip.
Abu Abed assumed command of the Rafah Brigade following the previous commander's elimination, Muhammad Shabanah. Prior to that, Abu Abed held several key positions within the brigade, including deputy commander and commander of the Tal al-Sultan and Yabna battalions. He was considered a central figure among Hamas leadership.
In his role, Abu Abed was responsible for directing the brigade's operatives and planning terror attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians. He also worked to rebuild the brigade's operational capabilities, which had been severely degraded during the ongoing conflict.
Security forces operating in the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to act to neutralize immediate threats.
