Israel Police Launch Drone-Enabled Operation to Combat Road Fatalities
Israel Police launched a large-scale enforcement operation on Wednesday aimed at curbing road fatalities, incorporating drones to provide real-time situational awareness for officers. This initiative follows the deployment of mobile tactical cameras and increased enforcement against speeding, alongside the addition of dozens of new patrol vehicles.
The use of drones as an enforcement tool by the police is not new and is now an integral part of officers' equipment for monitoring traffic violations and obtaining accurate, real-time information. "There are drivers who say 'it won't happen to me.' We need to remember that in the end, we are trying to stop the carnage on the roads; issuing tickets is not the goal," said Lt. Col. Shlomo Ben, from the Police's Traffic Division.
