Israeli Police Launch Major Traffic Enforcement Campaign Across Country
The Israeli Police commenced a large-scale traffic enforcement campaign on Wednesday, which will continue into the late night hours. Hundreds of police officers and volunteers are participating, deploying across various districts and roads nationwide. The operation covers both urban and inter-city routes from the north to the south of the country.
The campaign specifically targets serious and reckless driving offenses. It also includes increased monitoring of new drivers, truck and bus drivers, transport vehicles, and all types of cyclists. Specialized units involved are the National Motorcycle Unit, the National Traffic Police, and the Heavy Vehicle Unit, which will be stationed along Highway 6. Officers equipped with digital ticketing systems will also be present.
To enhance deterrence and reduce accidents and dangerous behavior, the police will utilize helicopters and drones equipped with regular and tactical cameras. Speed measurement devices and monitoring cameras are also part of the operation. The goal is to curb hazardous driving and improve road safety.
