Israeli Police Launch Nationwide Major Traffic Enforcement Operation to Enhance Road Safety

Starting Thursday morning, Israeli police deployed hundreds of officers and volunteers in over 500 vehicles across the country to conduct a large-scale traffic enforcement operation. The initiative, led by the Israel Police Traffic Department in cooperation with the National Road Safety Authority, targets life-threatening traffic violations as part of a national emergency plan to reduce road accidents.

The operation involves personnel from various traffic units, including the national motorcycle patrol, heavy vehicle unit, central traffic detectives, and regional traffic units, supported by numerous volunteers. These forces are stationed from northern to southern Israel, conducting continuous and focused enforcement throughout the day and into the night.

Approximately 500 marked and unmarked cars and motorcycles are being used, alongside advanced enforcement technologies such as still cameras, tactical cameras, drone cameras, "Deborah" radar devices, and other digital tools. Enforcement efforts concentrate on high-risk intercity and urban routes identified through data analysis by the Traffic Department's research and development division.

Traffic Department Chief Superintendent Haim Shmueli emphasized the importance of consistent enforcement and strict penalties for those endangering lives on the roads. He stated, "Road governance is not just a slogan; it requires persistent enforcement and accountability. Drivers who break the law will encounter the Israel Police, and we will act decisively to make roads safer for everyone."
