Israeli Police Launch Nationwide Major Traffic Enforcement Operation to Enhance Road Safety

Starting Thursday morning, Israeli police have deployed hundreds of officers and volunteers in a large-scale traffic enforcement operation across the country. Over 500 patrol vehicles, including motorcycles and both visible and covert units, are involved in the campaign coordinated by the Traffic Department in cooperation with the National Road Safety Authority. The operation targets dangerous traffic violations identified through data analysis of accident-prone areas on both intercity and urban roads.

The enforcement effort is part of a national emergency plan aimed at reducing road accidents and saving lives. Units participating include the Traffic Department, the National Motorcycle Patrol, the Heavy Vehicle Unit, detectives from the Traffic Central Unit, and regional traffic teams. Advanced enforcement technologies such as still cameras, tactical cameras, drones, "Deborah" devices, and other digital tools are being extensively used.

Traffic Department Chief Superintendent Haim Shmueli emphasized the importance of consistent enforcement and strict penalties for those endangering lives on the roads. He stated, "Road governance is not just a slogan; it requires persistent enforcement and accountability. Drivers who break the law will encounter the Israeli police, and we will act decisively to make the roads safer for everyone." The operation will continue throughout the day and into the night, focusing on high-risk routes nationwide.
