Israel Police Launch Nationwide Road Enforcement Operation

The Israel Police's Traffic Division announced a nationwide road enforcement operation scheduled for Wednesday, September 8th, 2026. The operation will commence early in the morning and continue until late at night, covering both intercity highways and urban roads across the country.

Hundreds of police officers, along with drones and speed cameras, will be deployed as part of the effort. The focus will be on "influential roads" identified by the Traffic Division's research and development department, targeting life-threatening traffic violations and "road bullying." Specific attention will be given to new drivers, drivers of heavy vehicles such as trucks, buses, and transport vehicles, and motorcyclists.

Participating units will include the National Motorcycle Patrol, the National Traffic Police, the Heavy Vehicle Unit operating along Highway 6, and the enforcement equipment department responsible for digital enforcement. The police air unit will also be involved, documenting traffic offenses from the air, with enforcement also conducted via drones. Hundreds of officers, patrol cars, and volunteers will be on the ground.

Enforcement methods will include still cameras, tactical cameras, laser speed measurement devices, and A3 speed cameras. This operation runs concurrently with the "Committed to Life" initiative, a national program by the Traffic Division and the National Road Safety Authority aimed at combating road fatalities, which has already seen an increase in traffic patrols on Israeli roads.
