IDF and Shin Bet Capture Hamas Interior Security Chief in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced Tuesday the joint operation that led to the arrest of Hamas's head of internal security for the entire Gaza Strip. The operation, led by the Shin Bet and the IDF Southern Command, targeted threats posed by Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip.
Special forces from the Shin Bet raided a structure in the Gaza City area, apprehending the senior Hamas official. During the operation, the Israeli Air Force conducted targeted strikes on several military targets in the area to neutralize threats to the forces, with no Israeli casualties reported.
The arrested individual was reportedly active in recent months in consolidating Hamas's control in northern Gaza and advancing terror plans against IDF forces operating near the border fence. He has been transferred to Israel for further interrogation.
