IDF Confirms Shin Bet Arrested Hamas Interior Security Chief in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officially confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of Hamas's head of internal security in Gaza. The announcement stated that Shin Bet agents carried out the operation, raiding a building in Gaza City where the senior Hamas operative was apprehended. The IDF and Shin Bet, under the command of the Shin Bet and Southern Command, conducted a targeted operation earlier in the day to neutralize threats posed by Hamas in northern Gaza.

During the operation, special forces from the Shin Bet raided a structure and arrested the individual responsible for Hamas's internal security across the entire Gaza Strip. The Israeli Air Force provided targeted strikes on several military targets in the area to mitigate threats to the forces involved. The IDF reported no Israeli casualties.

According to the IDF, the arrested operative had recently been working to solidify Hamas's control in the northern Gaza Strip and to advance terror plots against IDF forces operating near the border. Following his capture, the operative was transferred to Israel for further interrogation by security forces.

The operation aimed to eliminate threats, disrupt Hamas's control in the area, and thwart its plans to carry out terror attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians. Security forces in the Southern Command remain deployed in the area and will continue to operate to neutralize any threats.
