Israel Captures Senior Hamas Terrorist After Gaza Strikes
Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Tuesday that Israel has captured a senior Hamas terrorist in the Gaza Strip. The announcement followed a wave of unusual Israeli Air Force strikes in Gaza City. Reports from Gaza suggest the captured terrorist was wounded during the operation and has been transferred to Israel for interrogation.
According to Gaza-based reports, the operation involved a militia supported by Israel attempting to abduct a senior official from Hamas's internal security apparatus. The official reportedly identified the operatives and opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire. A Palestinian security source told Al-Araby TV that the IDF struck civilian vehicles to cover its operatives in the area.
An IDF source stated regarding the unusual strikes, "There are no casualties among our forces and no captured forces. The IDF acted to end an immediate threat." Another security official commented, "Israel does not believe Hamas will disarm." The IDF has been officially instructed not to push the "yellow line" in Gaza westward.
