Israel Captures Hamas Interior Security Chief in Gaza Operation
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency have confirmed the capture of a senior Hamas official responsible for the terror group's interior security in the Gaza Strip. The operation, which took place in Gaza City, involved Shin Bet special forces raiding a structure where the operative was apprehended. Simultaneously, Israeli Air Force aircraft conducted targeted strikes on military targets in the vicinity to neutralize threats and secure the operation, with no Israeli casualties reported.
According to security intelligence, the arrested official was recently focused on strengthening Hamas's control in the northern Gaza Strip. He was also involved in planning and executing attacks against IDF soldiers operating near the border. Following his capture, the operative was transferred to Israel for further security interrogation.
The IDF stated that the operation aimed to reduce threats, disrupt the organization's command and control mechanisms in the area, and thwart intentions to harm Israeli soldiers and civilians.
