Jerusalem Terror Attempt Foiled at Damascus Gate; Attacker Neutralized
An attempted stabbing attack occurred near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem early Friday morning around 4:00 AM. The assailant, a 33-year-old resident of East Jerusalem, arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to stab Israeli civilians and Border Police officers present at the scene. The civilians managed to escape and alert authorities. Border Police officers quickly responded to the report.
According to police, the attacker then attempted to stab the officers with a knife. Officers on site responded immediately, and both a male and female officer neutralized the assailant, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No Israeli civilians or security forces were injured in the incident.
Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Absalom Peled arrived at the scene and conducted a special situation assessment.
