Jerusalem Terrorist Neutralized Near Damascus Gate After Stabbing Attempt

Early Tuesday morning, a 33-year-old assailant from East Jerusalem attempted to carry out a stabbing attack against Border Police officers near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem's Old City. The officers responded swiftly, neutralizing the attacker, whose death was pronounced at the scene. Israeli Police reported no injuries among security forces. During the incident, a man in his 30s sustained minor injuries. Paramedics provided him with initial medical aid before he was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The incident occurred hours after a large Selichot prayer service, attended by 50,000 people, concluded at the Western Wall plaza. Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Asher Fuld arrived at the scene, assessed the situation, and commended the officers for their rapid and decisive response, which prevented further harm to civilians or security personnel. He stated that Jerusalem remains secure.
