Israel's Water Supply Restored After Unusual Natural Phenomenon

Israel's water sector has returned to full routine operations following a partial shutdown of desalination facilities due to an unusual natural phenomenon. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Water Authority announced on Thursday that the Sorek A desalination plant has resumed operations. This development comes after a situation assessment meeting with water sector leaders, chaired by Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen.

The natural event, described as unprecedented in the region for the past 30 years, had caused a temporary disruption to desalination plants. Despite this challenge, the water supply to households and agriculture continues uninterrupted. The ministry highlighted that increased pumping from boreholes and the Sea of Galilee, along with the filling of reservoirs due to high water production, ensures a continuous supply.

Minister Cohen stated, "The regular water supply to households and agriculture, despite the unusual natural phenomenon not seen in our region for the last 30 years, proves we have a robust water economy." He thanked the employees of the Ministry of Energy, the Water Authority, and Mekorot for their dedicated work. The Water Authority's hotline remains available for immediate response to any localized malfunctions.
