Desalination Plants Remain Partially Operational Despite Minister's Claims
Despite a declaration by Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen that the water economy would return to full operation on Tuesday evening, desalination plants have not resumed full activity. The Sorek B and Palmahim facilities are operating partially, while the Hadera desalination plant, the only one not shut down, continues to function normally. The Water Authority hopes that the Sorek A desalination plant can resume operations, but there is no timeline for this, nor is it clear how long the algal bloom affecting the Mediterranean coast will persist.
