Roy Revivo Completes Transfer to Elche After All-Night Negotiations

Israeli national team defender Roy Revivo has officially signed a four-year contract with Spanish club Elche, fulfilling his desire to play in La Liga. The transfer, which was finalized after extensive negotiations, saw Revivo forgo 15% of his contract value, amounting to approximately 375,000 euros, to facilitate the move. His agent, Fali Ramadani, engaged in an all-night negotiation with Maccabi Tel Aviv owner Mitch Goldhar, which concluded around 5:00 AM with Goldhar's approval.

Revivo's move was driven by his strong desire to advance his career, with sources close to him stating he would have been depressed had he remained at Maccabi Tel Aviv. Elche reportedly paid 2.5 million euros for the transfer, plus an additional 20% of any future sale. Revivo will earn 450,000 euros per season, a significant increase from his previous salary.

Maccabi Tel Aviv players expressed that Revivo's departure leaves a "huge hole" in the team, considering him one of their most important players alongside Dor Peretz. The club has generated approximately eight million euros from player sales this summer, including Revivo and Sayed Abu Farchi, while spending 2.45 million euros on new signings.

Elche, currently struggling near the relegation zone in La Liga, faces tough upcoming matches against Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Madrid. Revivo's father, Haim Revivo, previously played for Celta Vigo, Elche's opponent in October.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is reportedly considering English right-back James Tavernier, recently released by Rangers, as a potential signing. The club is also navigating issues with its foreign player roster, needing to release at least one player to register new signings before the September 16 transfer deadline.
