Roy Revivo Joins Elche, Following Father's Spanish League Footsteps

Israeli defender Roy Revivo, 23, has officially signed with Spanish club Elche for a reported 2.8 million euros, plus 20% of any future sale. Revivo joins the team in match fitness, having played a full 90 minutes in his last game for Maccabi Tel Aviv against Maccabi Haifa on Monday. Elche is scheduled to play Real Sociedad next Monday, giving Revivo six days to integrate before potentially making his debut or starting.

Revivo is expected to be Elche's primary left-back, a position previously filled by players not naturally suited to it. The club also signed another left-back, Thoma Lemaire, on the final day of the transfer window, a move described by Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo as "unusual" for signing two players for the same position on deadline day. Elche's local newspaper, Faro De Vigo, highlighted Revivo's family connection, noting his father, Haim Revivo, previously played in Spain, expressing anticipation for seeing him play over 25 years later.

Interestingly, Revivo is not the only player at Elche whose father was a professional footballer. He joins Federico Redondo, Marc Aguado, and Pau Torres, sons of former stars Fernando Redondo, Xavi Aguado, and Fernando Torres respectively. Elche's CEO, Pedro Sciachuca, addressed this trend, stating that while not a deliberate strategy, the sons of famous footballers often have a deeper understanding of the sport and club environments from a young age, which can ease their transition.
