Israeli Defender Roy Revivo Joins Elche, Following Father's Footsteps

Israeli defender Roy Revivo, 23, has officially signed with Spanish La Liga club Elche for a reported fee of 2.8 million euros, plus 20% of any future sale. Revivo joins the team in match fitness, having played a full 90 minutes in his last game for Maccabi Tel Aviv on Monday. Elche is scheduled to play Real Sociedad next Monday, giving Revivo six days to integrate before potentially making his debut.

Revivo is expected to be Elche's primary natural left-back, a position previously filled by players not naturally suited to it. The club also signed another left-back, Touma Lemar, on the final day of the transfer window, a move described by Spanish media as unusual. Revivo was registered on the La Liga website before the transfer deadline.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo noted Elche's signing of two left-backs on the final day, stating Revivo was brought in to cover the entire flank and utilize his speed. Faro De Vigo highlighted the familial connection, noting Revivo's arrival over 25 years after his father, Haim Revivo, played in Spain. They anticipate seeing him play at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero as early as October 11th.

Interestingly, Revivo is not the only player at Elche whose father was a prominent footballer. He joins Federico Redondo, Marc Aguado, and Fer Niño, sons of Fernando Redondo, Xavi Aguado, and Fernando Niño respectively. Elche's CEO, Pedro Sciñuka, addressed this trend, suggesting it's a coincidence but acknowledging that these players, having grown up around professional football, may have an easier transition into the club.
