Teen Passenger Recounts Terror on Dubai Flight After Pilot Stabbed

A 16-year-old Israeli passenger, Peleg Itali, who was seated in the front rows of a flight from Dubai, described the terrifying moments when an attacker stabbed one of the pilots. "I heard someone screaming 'He's stabbed.' I started talking to God, telling him sorry for everything I've done," Itali told Ynet. He recounted the feeling of the plane lurching, saying, "You see the floor, you feel you're falling. I almost started writing an obituary." Itali explained that two passengers bravely intervened, tackling the assailant and preventing further harm, allowing the co-pilot to regain control of the aircraft. The injured pilot is currently hospitalized in Saudi Arabia, with his medical condition unspecified. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with one of the passengers who helped subdue the attacker, Yaniv Hayun, praising his heroism. "You don't need to apologize, you are the hero. We are a nation of lions," Netanyahu told Hayun, who had apologized for having blood on his clothes. Hayun described the chaos, including the lights going out and screams, and how he and other Israelis on board managed to restrain the attacker and help the co-pilot stabilize the plane. He noted that it would take a long time to recover from the experience.
