Israeli Executive Recounts Subduing Attacker on Dubai Flight to Saudi Arabia
Zvika Mans, CEO of Barak Capital Underwriting, a subsidiary of Leumi Bank, was aboard a Flydubai flight that landed in Saudi Arabia after the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the pilot. Mans confirmed to the business newspaper Calcalist that he was involved in subduing the assailant.
Speaking emotionally about the "incredibly traumatic event," Mans described how his wife heard screams from the cockpit. She alerted a Fijian relief pilot who was on board, urging him to investigate. The relief pilot then called for assistance, and Mans, along with two other passengers, entered the cockpit and overpowered the attacker.
"I'm covered in blood. It was crazy," Mans stated. He identified the co-pilot who allegedly carried out the stabbing as being from Oman, while the relief pilot who intervened was from Fiji. A doctor on board provided medical attention to the injured pilot, enabling the flight to continue its journey.
