Flydubai Pilot Allegedly Attempted Suicide, Second Pilot Fought for Control
A Flydubai flight carrying approximately 180 Israeli passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv experienced a terrifying incident where one of the pilots allegedly attempted to commit suicide by intentionally crashing the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
Flight data reveals the aircraft executed a near-vertical dive from over 30,000 feet to approximately 15,000 feet in a matter of seconds, reaching speeds close to 1,000 km/h (about 600 mph). During this descent, distress signals 7700 and 7500, indicating a hijacking or unlawful interference, were transmitted, triggering security alerts across the Middle East and temporarily halting takeoffs at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.
Reports indicate that the second pilot engaged in a physical struggle with the pilot attempting the crash. This heroic intervention allowed the second pilot to regain control of the aircraft, stabilize it around 15,000 feet, and prevent a catastrophic crash. The extreme G-forces and speed during the dive could have led to the aircraft breaking apart.
Following the stabilization of the plane, the second pilot took command, turned the aircraft around, and executed an emergency landing back at Dubai International Airport. The incident is being investigated as a potential suicide attempt by one of the crew members, averted by the actions of the other pilot.
