Flydubai Passenger Recounts Harrowing Mid-Air Terror

Assaf Radwan, one of the passengers who helped neutralize a terrorist on a Flydubai flight, described the terrifying ordeal as a "nightmare movie." He recounted how the plane lost control, diving at a 90-degree angle, and that passengers saw "a lot of blood" from the cockpit.

Radwan explained that he and three other passengers, including one named Tzvi, entered the cockpit and worked to subdue the attacker. He credited the flight crew, including two additional pilots, with regaining control of the aircraft and successfully landing it at Ben Gurion Airport. "We decided it was do or die, and I'm glad we went for it," Radwan stated, expressing relief that the incident is over.

Despite the successful resolution, Radwan admitted to still being in shock and struggling to process the event. He mentioned initial hesitation about boarding another Flydubai flight due to fear, and that there was a debate among the passengers about delaying the flight to receive security assurances. Radwan clarified that he did not know the attacker's motives, only what he witnessed, and deferred to authorities for any investigation.

He emphasized that he does not take personal credit for the outcome, attributing the stabilization of the plane to the individuals present at the right time. Radwan concluded by expressing gratitude for the safe landing and his personal relief, comparing the experience to a nightmare after his trip to Thailand. He also briefly mentioned his personal interests, including playing tennis and running an insurance agency.
