Flydubai Co-Pilot Accused of Attempted Hijacking and Crashing Plane

Authorities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are investigating an emergency landing of a Flydubai aircraft en route from the UAE to Israel. The plane, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, made an unscheduled landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following an altercation between the pilots. Initial reports suggest the co-pilot, an Omani national, allegedly stabbed the Emirati captain and attempted to crash the aircraft with all passengers aboard. The plane rapidly descended from approximately 34,000 feet to 14,000 feet in just four minutes. Several Israeli passengers, including pilots, reportedly intervened to help control the co-pilot and assist in landing the aircraft safely in Saudi Arabia. Images circulating from inside the plane showed one passenger with blood-stained clothing. Israeli authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the co-pilot's actions were an act of terrorism. Prime Minister Netanyahu is reportedly holding security consultations regarding the incident. Israel is considering sending military or civilian aircraft to repatriate its citizens, pending approval from Riyadh. Flight tracking data indicated the aircraft initially transmitted an emergency code 7700, signifying a general emergency, and later, code 7500, which denotes unlawful interference.
