IDF Eliminates Hamas Nukhba Commander Involved in October 7 Tanker Abduction
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of Jihad Samih Mahmoud Ismail, a commander in Hamas's Nukhba unit, who participated in the October 7th attack on Israel. The strike, carried out by air, occurred last week. According to the IDF, Ismail was involved in the assault on Tank No. 3 of the 77th Battalion, 7th Armored Brigade, on October 7, 2023. During this attack, he was also involved in the abduction of Captain Omer Neutra, Senior Sergeant Oz Daniel, and Sergeant Nimrod Cohen. Tank driver Sergeant Shaked Dahan was killed in the same engagement.
During the ongoing conflict, Ismail reportedly organized ambushes against Israeli soldiers. More recently, he was engaged in training new recruits for attacks against both military personnel and civilians, in violation of a ceasefire. The IDF stated that Ismail's elimination is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas's military capabilities.
