IDF Eliminates Hamas Nukhba Cell Leader Involved in October 7th Attack
The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it had eliminated Jihad Samih Mahmoud Ismail, a Hamas Nukhba operative, in an airstrike last week in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza. Ismail was identified as the head of a Nukhba cell within Hamas's military wing.
According to the IDF, Ismail participated in the October 7th massacre, infiltrating Israeli territory from southern Gaza. He was involved in an engagement with tank crews, specifically Tank Number 3, and in the abduction of Captain Omer Nautra, Sergeant Oz Daniel, and Sergeant Nimrod Cohen. During this encounter, tank driver Sergeant Shaked Dahan was killed.
The Nukhba forces are a special unit within Hamas's military wing, trained in special warfare and infiltration tactics. The IDF stated that the elimination of Ismail is part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas's military capabilities and bring those responsible for the October 7th attacks to justice.
