IDF Kills Hamas Nukhba Commander Involved in Oct. 7 Massacre
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated Jihad Samih Mahmoud Ismail, a Hamas Nukhba commando unit commander, in Khan Younis last week. Intelligence indicates Ismail actively participated in the October 7th Simchat Torah massacre, infiltrating southern Israel from the Gaza Strip.
During the attack, Ismail engaged IDF armored forces, specifically a tank crew, and was involved in the abduction of three soldiers: Captain Omer Neutra, Sergeant Major Oz Daniel, and Sergeant Nimrod Cohen. The tank's driver, Sergeant Shaked Dahan, was also killed in this engagement.
Following the initial assault, Ismail planned and executed ambushes against IDF troops operating in Gaza. The IDF stated that he recently continued to advance terror plans against Israeli forces and civilians, systematically violating the ceasefire. His elimination was deemed necessary to neutralize the immediate threat posed by his activities.
IDF forces in the Southern Command remain deployed in the area and are prepared to act decisively to remove any immediate threats to the security of forces and civilians.
