IDF Eliminates Hamas Nukhba Commander Involved in Oct. 7 Tank Crew Abductions
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Wednesday that it eliminated Jihad Samih Mahmoud Ismail, a Hamas Nukhba force commander, in Khan Younis in southern Gaza last week. According to the IDF, Ismail participated in the October 7th attack on Israel and was involved in the abduction of tank crew members from Tank 3.
The IDF stated that Ismail crossed from southern Gaza into Israel and engaged with the tank crew. During the confrontation, Captain Omer Naotara, Sergeant Major Oz Daniel, and Sergeant Nimrod Cohen were abducted. The tank driver, Sergeant Shaked Dahan, was also killed in the incident.
The IDF further reported that Ismail continued to operate against Israeli forces during the war, participating in ambushes aimed at harming soldiers. Recently, he had been advancing terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians, systematically violating ceasefire agreements.
The military stated that Ismail was eliminated to neutralize the threat he posed. Forces in the southern command are deployed in the area and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threats.
