IDF Eliminates Hamas Nukhba Commander Responsible for October 7 Attack

The Israeli military announced Wednesday that it had eliminated a Hamas commander from the elite Nukhba unit in an airstrike in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The commander, Mohammed Mahmoud Marshad al-Qadi, led the raid on the Soufa military post on October 7, 2023, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF stated that al-Qadi was also involved in holding hostages in the Rafah area during the ongoing war.

According to the IDF, al-Qadi was recently engaged in training Hamas operatives, attempting to restore the group's combat capabilities, and preparing for new attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. The military asserted that his activities continued despite an existing ceasefire.

The IDF emphasized that the strike was carried out to neutralize the threat posed by al-Qadi, stating, "The terrorist was eliminated to remove the threat he posed."
