Israel Braces for Late Summer Heatwave
Israel is set to experience a rise in temperatures on Monday, September 14, with daytime highs expected to be a few degrees warmer than usual for this time of year. The heatwave is forecast to continue through Tuesday and Wednesday with no significant changes anticipated.
Coastal waters will remain warm, with the Mediterranean Sea reaching 30 degrees Celsius and moderate waves between 30-60 cm. The Sea of Galilee (Kinneret) will be slightly warmer at 31 degrees Celsius with waves of 20-50 cm. The Red Sea in Eilat will see water temperatures of 27 degrees Celsius with calm seas of 20-40 cm.
Inland, temperatures will be significantly higher. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will experience highs of 33°C and 31°C respectively. Other cities like Haifa, Netanya, and Ashdod will also see daytime temperatures around 31°C. Northern cities such as Afula, Kiryat Shmona, and Katzrin, as well as the Dead Sea area near Ein Gedi, are forecast to reach highs of 37°C to 39°C. Eilat in the south is expected to be the hottest, with a daytime high of 40°C.
